Where to See Cherry Blossoms this Spring in Montgomery County, MD

Local Spots to See the Trees without Quite as Many Crowds

By Leah Spencer March 25, 2026

Cherry Blossom season is a special time in the D.C.-area, but it can be difficult to get down to the overcrowded Tidal Basin to see the blooms with kids. While there isn't anything quite as iconic as the famous D.C. Cherry Blossoms, here are a few spots in Montgomery County (and beyond) that have beautiful trees worth checking out.

🌸 Kenwood Neighborhood in Bethesda

Park near Bethesda Row and walk the Capital Crescent Trail over Little Falls Pkwy towards Dorset Ave and Brookside Ave. This walk is a little over 1.4 miles, but the community is closed to cars during peak season on the weekends and parking can be tricky to find close by. You can drive through the area during the week.

🌸 Brookside Gardens in Wheaton

Brookside has 26 Cherry Blossom trees of various types planted throughout the grounds. While it is not as encompassing as the Tidal Basin, they offer a lovely, close-by alternative. Don't forget to stop by the recently revamped Children's Garden near the Visitor Center. And the Butterfly Experience reopens April 1, 2026!

🌸 Glenview Mansion in Rockville

This historic estate has a bounty of beautiful blooming trees. Just note that most weekends it may be closed for private events and weddings during peak season.
