No local park review would be complete without including Wheaton Regional Park! It has a giant adventure playground with huge slides and climbing structures.
There is a giant mountain made of blue playground turf that is always fun to climb up to the top (but bring or look for a piece of flat cardboard to slide down the side because the mountain can be tricky to descend).
While little kids will definitely enjoy the sand pit and smaller tot section, the bigger playground attractions can definitely be a bit anxiety-provoking for a parent with younger ones.
But this playground is worth the visit even if only for the mini train and carousel that run every April through October. Both attractions require ticket purchase to ride. As of June 18th, the train and carousel are open from Thursday to Sunday, and some special hours for holidays. Check the website for exact hours and the train's facebook page for weather-related closures or delays.
