Wheaton Claridge Local Park is a hidden gem of a playground just off of Viers Mill Road in Wheaton. This playground was updated in 2018 and is surrounded by a wooded forest with several hiking just a few steps from the playground. The large playground has tall, windy ladders, racing slides, and a lot of vertical ropes to ascend. The massive climbing web will make any kid feel like Spiderman!
The smaller playground for younger children has a tunnel, a small slide, drums, and a set of baby swings. There is also a spinning wheel to hang on and a three different metal musical pipes sets on which to make beautiful sounds.
Additionally, the park has an activity building that can be rented out for parties or events, picnic tables, and basketball courts. There were several trails to choose from only steps from the playground.
We enjoyed traversing down the rocks and exploring the stream area running close by. This is a playground that despite not having a ton of equipment, you could easily spend an afternoon just enjoying nature.
