Do you have a kid who loves firefighters? Then we have the perfect playground for you. Glenmont Forest Local Park is located at the intersection of Randolph Avenue and Georgia Avenue, right next to a volunteer fire station. So if you're lucky, you not only get to play make-believe firefighters, but you might get to see the trucks pull out of the station, too!
The playground itself is not big at all, but my 3-year-old spent a long time entertaining herself with the myriad of imaginative features built right into the equipment. She especially liked the small playground that is made to resemble a firehouse AND a firetruck all in one. There is a mini fire hydrant, realistic controls for the truck, and even a doghouse for the firedog.
The larger playground has a big double slide, a pole (of course) to slide down, a climbing wall, and monkey bars.
The playground also has a pavilion with several built in tables and benches, a little library, and a wide open field with a walking trail along Georgia Avenue.
Getting to the playground–and parking–is a little tricky. I didn't see any parking lot on-site, so we ended up parking around the corner on on Grandview and walking up. There is a cut-through in the grass from other people doing the same, but we spotted poison ivy and decided not to chance it.
