Tucked away near Downtown Silver Spring is Nolte Local Park, a classic playground with lots to entertain kids of many ages. The park has a huge soccer field and baseball field that are often used for practices and games, but our favorite part is the playground, which was a favorite of my child's when she was three and younger. There is a little kid section that is shaped like a train; it has a small slide that is great for tiny climbers, a steering wheel and even a train whistle.
There is a tall climbing structure that is better for the over five crowd--you have to climb some pretty steep ladders to even reach the top. But once you make it there is a bridge to run across, a covered lookout, and several twisty slides to get you back down.
There are monkey bars, a spinner and a metal climbing tower, and several sets of swings.
This park has a walking trail all around the playground and the field, and you will often see people exercising, kids scootering, and families walking their dogs.
