This playground is tucked back in a neighborhood near the Forest Glen metro station. It has some common equipment that you might see often on the playground circuit, but a few surprises and a sprawling green area make it an unexpected getaway for an afternoon.
The playground has a main structure with a tall, multi-level climbing fort, bridges, ladders and three slides. There are also a couple of windows at the bottom of the structure to encourage imaginative play (anyone who has ever "bought" a wood chip delicacy from a toddler at a park will know what I mean). There is a large fake climbing rock that is attached to the main playground area with a series of ropes, making for an extra ninja-like challenge. And finally there is a circular cage-like structure on which I'm not sure if kids are supposed to climb or spin or both!
The toddler playground equipment is a small train with a tunnel and slide for the younger set. There's also a bank of swings and a large basketball court.
While the playground itself gets pretty direct sun, there is a huge field beside it with plenty of big mature trees. I can only imagine what this park will look like when the leaves start to change! There are a few picnic tables and a paved walkway through. Also, it is set quite far back from the road, so if kids want to run, it's a good place to let them go free.
