North Hills Playground
9500 Brunett Avenue Silver Spring, MD 20901
This playground is located in the North Hills neighborhood of Silver Spring, behind Acorn Hill Nursery School and next to the old Parks and Planning building. It's not officially included in the Montgomery County Parks and Trail Directory, but it's still a good one to check out if you're looking for a new space to play.
The playground has a big multi-faceted structure with twisty slides, bridges, and tunnels where my kids loved hiding. There are monkey bars (always something we're on the lookout for), and a set of swings and teeter-totters. There's a small bulldozer play structure for smaller kids, but there isn't a dedicated play section for the 2 to 5-year-old crowd like you see at some of the newer, renovated parks.
A bonus to this playground is that every Thursday night, the neighborhood hosts a food truck right in the parking lot above the playground. Come, order some food, let your kids play while you wait and then either picnic or take it home. Check here for their schedule.
