Becca Lilly Neighborhood Park

As the temperatures have gone up, we've been on a quest to find shady playgrounds so we can still play without burning up. While visiting a different (hotter) park, a local parent mentioned Becca Lilly as a shady escape, so we went to check it out immediately. And the recommendation was spot on!

This playground is in a neighborhood off of New Hampshire Avenue and along the Long Branch Stream Valley. If coming by car, you have to park and walk into the park, which helps to keep it serene and shaded. It is by no means an updated playground, but on this day, we weren't looking for fancy or new. We wanted shade, and the huge tree canopies that cover this park make it feel cooler than the surrounding areas for sure.

There are two main play structures, a see saw, a bunch of spinners, and two lone "stage coaches" that are painted and have low monkey bars to swing across. There are a few picnic tables and a shallow creek with many rocks to throw.

Do you have a favorite neighborhood playground? Let us know and we will feature it here! Looking for some other ideas for places to play, check out our Playground Guide to see all the playgrounds we've covered so far.
